About
Daniel Flynn works across embroidery and painting, using text and surface to record fragments of lived experience. He stitches and paints phrases drawn from personal memory, overheard conversations and everyday moments, the kinds of lines that are specific enough to feel real, yet familiar enough to belong to anyone.
Whether embroidered into silk, worked into found drop sheets, or layered through paint, these words act like small scenes. A late-night freeway drive. Fireworks on a beach. Sitting in the sun listening to music. Each piece builds a place through language, not a literal image, but a feeling you recognise.
Flynn’s materials matter. Silk stretched over timber frames can feel like a fogged window. Drop clothes are mundane, an everyday material that collects marks as it ages. The act of stitching is slow and deliberate, a way of fixing a moment in place and preserving a memory. His work comes from a simple impulse: to hold onto what happened, before it slips.
